German LNG Terminal issues shortlist for EPC contract

German LNG Terminal – the company that is planning to build an LNG facility in Brunsbüttel – has selected the Spanish-German partnership of COBRA Instalaciones y Servicios, SENER Ingeniería y sistemas and TGE Gas Engineering as an exclusive candidate for the final phase of the tender procedure for the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract.

In a statement issued on Thursday (25 June), German LNG Terminal said the final phase will consist of ‘a comprehensive value-improvement exercise and a detailed price actualisation’, with a view to concluding a binding EPC contract by the end of 2020.

German LNG Terminal started the international prequalification process for the selection of an EPC contractor in June 2019 and described the selection of a potential partner for the final development of the EPC contract as a ‘further milestone’ for the project.

German LNG Terminal added that is also in the process of completing the permit application for the planning of the port infrastructure, including the waterside facilities.

Between them, the members of the Spanish-German partnership have been involved in a number of high profile LNG terminal projects located in Sines in Portugal, Sagunto and Bahía Bizcaya in Spain, Gate in the Netherlands, Dunkerque in France, and Zeebrugge in Belgium.

German LNG Terminal is a joint venture between Dutch companies Gasunie LNG Holding B.V., Vopak LNG Holding B.V. and Oiltanking GmbH, a subsidiary of Marquard & Bahls AG, Hamburg, Germany.
