The first end-to-end planning and execution of an LNG bunkering operation has been carried out on the FuelBoss platform.
Developed by the class society DNV GL in partnership with maritime supply chain digital solutions specialist Teqplay, FuelBoss is described as a common industry platform for LNG bunker suppliers and shipowners which connects industry stakeholders in the planning and execution of LNG bunkering operations. It covers the marine LNG supply chain from nomination to the bunker delivery note.
As previously reported, the FuelBoss platform entered its pilot phase in May. Speaking at the time, Martin Wold, Senior Consultant, Environmental technology and compliance, DNV GL – Maritime Advisory, said that ‘Feedback from suppliers has been very positive and we expect to have at least 10 suppliers on FuelBoss before the pilot phase ends, covering both Europe, Asia and North America’.
Pilot users of the platform include Gasum and Cryo Shipping.
Today, in a LinkedIn post, Wold announced the successful completion last week of the first LNG bunkering operation using FuelBoss. He noted that Gasum and a customer had used the platform to agree details of the bunkering operation and ‘for the first time the required documentation for the ship-to-ship bunkering was filled out and signed electronically over the platform by the personnel onboard.’
The pilot phase is due to run until the end of August, and new features will be added along the way. There are no costs associated with taking part in this phase and pilot users will have access to all the features of a fully functional platform.
