Launch of hybrid newbuildings

The vessels, which were recently launched at the Tersan shipyard in Turkey, had been scheduled to enter service at the beginning of next year.

‘Over the last six months, the coronavirus pandemic has affected the shipyard in Turkey and construction of the new coastal ships meaning that the first two ships will not be ready for the new year as originally planned,’ said Havila Voyages. ‘But [Havila Voyages CEO] Arild Myrvoll says that based on current knowledge, it looks like delivery may take place during the first quarter of 2021.’

The hybrid cruise ferries will operate between Bergen and Kirkenes along the western coastline of Norway, stopping at 34 ports along the route.
