This week’s podcast guest is Dr Lucy Gilliam of the Brussels based think tank Transport and Environment. T&E has been reporting on the impact of transport on our environment since 2007. T&E is a member of the Clean Shipping Coalition which has observer status at the IMO as well as being represented on a number of maritime industry groups.
Dr Gilliam joined in 2017, after several years as an advisor to the UK Government’s Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs followed by several years as a founding director of eXXpedition, an all-female company that runs research voyages investigating issues like plastics pollution of the oceans.
Dr Gilliam and Mark Williams discuss the potential for a number of non-fossil fuels for shipping, consider the option of carbon capture and try to answer the question, are we heading for a multi-fuel, no-size-fits-all future?
The ship.energy podcast has its finger on the pulse of the marine energy transition. In the coming weeks and months it will feature the views and perspectives of the key stakeholders and opinion-formers who are engaged in shaping shipping’s evolution to becoming a low – and ultimately zero – GHG emissions industry.
Expect some forthright, always informative – and sometimes controversial – opinions from the leaders of the global shipping, marine fuels and technology sectors
Join the journey and listen to the growing discussion about shipping’s mission to be a ‘clean’ industry.
