EC green light for Lithuanian LNG FRSU loan

The European Commission has given its approval for Lithuania to issue a state guarantee for securing a loan that LNG supplier Klaipėdos Nafta (KN) will use to finance the purchase of a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU).

KN has been operating an LNG terminal in Klaipeda for six years and – as previously reported by ship.energy – it has been looking to introduce an FSRU to expand its operations.

Earlier this month, KN announced that it had selected Holman Fenwick Willan LLP (HFW), Quality Energy Developments Consulting (QED) and DNV GL to provide legal, commercial and technical advice for the FSRU, which the company plans to have in operation by the end of 2024.
