‘Game-changing’ Damen FCS using ‘connected vessel platform’ to cut fuel consumption

Damen has announced that its new Fast Crew Supplier (FCS) 7011, which has been launched at its Antalya shipyard in Turkey, will feature will feature the Damen Triton connected vessel platform.

According to Damen, the platform collects information from sensors located around the vessel to ‘enable remote monitoring, preventive maintenance and efficient sailing, resulting in lower fuel consumption and emissions’.

The vessel is the largest ever to have been launched in Antalya Free Zone and will be capable of transporting up to 120 personnel in a single trip. According to Damen, this makes the vessel a ‘game changer’ because it ‘raises the prospect of a move away from day-rate structures towards a pay per journey model and, potentially, vessel sharing, thereby increasing the efficiency of offshore operations’.
