Nina Porst has been appointed as Danish Shipping’s new Director of Climate, Environment.
Porst joins from a position as Head of Department in the Danish Ministry of Environment and will start at Danish Shipping in August.
‘I am very excited to welcome Nina to Amaliegade. Nina brings extensive expertise in climate and environmental issues and has experience in environmental regulation within the shipping industry,’ said Anne H. Steffensen, CEO of Danish Shipping. ‘Combined with solid leadership experience and political acumen, I am convinced that she will be a great asset to our members and Danish shipping.’
Danish Shipping has set a goal of becoming carbon neutral by 2050 and is also working towards achieving the same result globally.
Acknowledging the scale of the task at hand, Porst said: ‘Global shipping accounts for about 3% of the world’s total emissions, so we are facing a tremendous challenge. I approach this challenge humbly and look forward to doing what I can, together with a talented team of colleagues, to push the industry towards a greener direction.’
Porst succeeds Maria Skipper Schwenn who announced her departure from Danish Shipping earlier this year and whose appointment as Director of Environmental Regulatory and Public Affairs at Bunker Holding was announced last month.
