Rhys BerryGTT has announced it has received an Approval in Principle (AiP) from class society ABS for the NH3-ready notation of its Mark III containment system on LNG-fuelled vessels.
In a statement issued yesterday (5 August), GTT highlighted that the approval enables LNG tanks equipped with Mark III technology to be converted for ammonia (NH3) use aboard LNG-fuelled vessels, ‘enhancing their versatility by allowing them to operate on another fuel in their second life.’
‘We are very proud to receive this new AiP, which testifies to the relevance of our Mark III technology for ammonia-fuelled ships following the extensive test campaign carried out by GTT,’ said David Colson , Commercial VP of GTT. ‘While the use of ammonia as fuel is still to be proven, this approval brings us a step closer to enabling multi-gas conversion on vessels fitted with GTT technologies, reinforcing our position at the forefront of sustainable maritime solutions.’
