GT Wings finds new collaborators for wind propulsion tech

 GT Wings has announced a strategic partnership with A2O Manufacturing Ltd and KS Composites to advance its AirWing technology,

The new wind propulsion system is designed for use by commercial shipping. This collaboration aims to reduce fuel consumption and carbon emissions by up to 30%, aligning with EU and IMO environmental standards.

The first AirWing installation is scheduled for Q4 2024 on a 124-meter general cargo vessel owned by Carisbrooke Shipping. This installation marks a new step in validating the effectiveness of the technology.

GT Wings CEO George Thompson described the importance of the partnership, stating that A2O Manufacturing and KS Composites both had key expertise which will contribute to the success of the AirWing.

‘Their composite materials expertise perfectly complements our design and engineering excellence. This partnership is poised to make a significant impact on decarbonising the global shipping fleet,’ said Thompson.

Nigel Allman, CEO of A2O Manufacturing, highlighted the synergy between their manufacturing capabilities and KS Composites’ materials expertise. Jamie Smith, Managing Director of KS Composites, expressed pride in contributing to the development of a major advancement in wind propulsion technology.
