EPS partnering with DongHwa Entec on High-Pressure compressor for LNG-fuelled boxship newbuild

Eastern Pacific Shipping (EPS) and DongHwa Entec (DHE) have announced they are collaborating on the development and installation of a High-Pressure (HP) Compressor for an 18,000 TEU (twenty-foot equivalent unit) LNG-fuelled container ship under construction at China’s NTS Shipyard.

In a statement issued yesterday (10 March), EPS said the collaboration optimises the utilisation of Boil-Off Gas (BOG) to enhance fuel efficiency and, in return, ‘significantly’ reducing environmental impact.

‘With the HP Compressor integrated, the vessel will be able to channel BOG directly into the main engine, minimising emissions and maximising fuel efficiency, a major leap forward in decarbonising shipping operations,’ said EPS.

As previously reported by ship.energy, in August 2024, EPS announced it would be equipping its fleet of 18,000 TEU with new ME-GI (Gas Injection) engines.
