Steel cut on Carnival’s fourth LNG-fuelled Excel class ship, Carnival Festivale

Carnival Cruise Line has announced that a steel cutting ceremony was held on Tuesday (8 April) at Meyer Werft’s shipyard in Papenburg, Germany for the Carnival Festivale, its fourth LNG-powered Excel class ship.

Once it enters into operation, the Carnival Festivale will be sailing from Port Canaveral alongside its sister ship Mardi Gras.

The Mardi Gras was Carnival’s first Excel class ship to be introduced – in 2021. It was followed by Carnival Celebration in 2022 and Carnival Jubilee in 2023.

As previously reported, in March 2024 Meyer Werft and Carnival announced an agreement to build a fifth LNG-fuelled Excel class cruise ship which is scheduled for delivery in 2028.
