Wärtsilä engine upgrades on Ulusoy Sealines bulk carriers expected to yield fuel savings and 5% CII improvements

Wärtsilä expects that the main engine retrofits that it will be providing for two Ulusoy Sealines bulk carriers will yield Carbon Intensity Indicator (CII) improvements of 5% and annual fuel savings of nearly 250 tonnes.

In a statement issued today (16 April), Wärtsilä said the retrofit of the Wärtsilä RT-flex main engines will also extend the vessels’ operational lives.

The delivery of the required parts and equipment for the two Türkiye-based vessels – ULUSOY 11 and ULUSOY 12 – is scheduled to take place before the end of June.

Wärtsilä added that both vessels have already undergone substantial changes since their initial delivery to the market in 2011.
