Baleària flags record-breaking LNG bunkering operations at Port of Barcelona

Spanish shipping company Baleària says it broke an all-time record for the supply of LNG in the Port of Barcelona yesterday (14 May).

Three of the company’s vessels were fuelled by a total of eight tankers, Baleària said in a social media post today.

Fast ferry Margarita Salas was bunkered by three tankers simultaneously. Ferry Martín i Soler was fuelled by two tankers at the same while ferry Bahama Mama was supplied by three tankers also at the same time.

According to Baleària, it marked the first time in Spain that three bunkering operations were carried out on three different ships on the same day and port, and two of them simultaneously (Martin i Soler and Bahama Mama).

As previously reported by ship.energy, Baleària increased its consumption of natural gas by 184% in 2024.
