The European Commission (EC) announced yesterday (19 October) that it has selected 77 European net-zero technology projects to receive funding support worth €3.4 billion under the call of the Innovation Fund launched in December – and some of these projects are involved in the production of low- and zero-carbon fuels and the development of multi-fuel propulsion systems for ocean-going ships. The EC’s statement on the funding rounding was accompanied by a document highlighting some of the projects. The H2Blue Project – which aims to demonstrate and validate renewable hydrogen value chains in the Canary Islands and the Azores – was given an official send-off in Brussels last week. The project is looking to support the deployment of hydrogen technologies in island and coastal regions – and the Canary Islands and Azores are seen as good ‘representative territories’ in which to test production, storage, and utilisation solutions under ‘real maritime and port conditions’. In a statement posted on LinkedIn at the end of last week, H2Blue Project partners said that, over next three years, they will look to: […]

Under the scope of a new Memorandum of Understanding, up to 12,000 tonnes of green hydrogen per year could be locally produced by Lhyfe to supply Perpetual Next’s planned DeltaNor biomethanol facility in Delfzijl in the Netherlands. French company Lhyfe already has four installed production sites in Europe, and this should rise to six by the end of the year. The Netherlands is seen as one of Europe’s most mature markets for green hydrogen, and Lhyfe is actively developing projects there, including the 120 MW project in Delfzijl. Perpetual Next is developing DeltaNor as a 220,000 tonne-per-year biomethanol production facility […]
