Strategically-located at the crossroads of the Mediterranean and Atlantic and of Europe and Africa, Gibraltar is the most important bunkering hub in the Mediterranean but also provides a range of key maritime services, from ship repair and agency to hull cleaning and surveying, from major cruise destination to superyacht haven, from thriving financial and legal centre to preferred crew change location.

HM Government of Gibraltar, The Gibraltar Port Authority, Gibraltar Maritime Administration, University of Gibraltar Maritime Academy and Petrospot are proud to announce the second edition of the biennial Maritime Week Gibraltar, a global showcase for one of the most efficient, secure, and professionally managed ports in the world.

Building on the huge success of the inaugural event in June 2019, MWG21 will demonstrate the advantages that make Gibraltar the rock-solid partner for global shipping.

Maritime Week Gibraltar 2021 is a highly informative, multi-format interactive event, designed to showcase the many shipping, port and maritime services offered in Gibraltar to a wider international audience.

The week starts on Monday 8 November with the full day An Introduction to Shipping & Bunkering course and a half day Ship & Yacht Registry course. The evening will see an Opening Reception hosted by HM Government of Gibraltar at the official residence of the Governor of Gibraltar, and a later reception hosted by the Gibraltar Port Operators Association.

Tuesday 9 November features a one-day Flagship Conference that will highlight key international port, shipping and bunkering issues while shining a spotlight on the many different maritime services available in Gibraltar. Leading international and local speakers will cover a range of key subjects during the conference based on activities carried out in Gibraltar, including bunkering, LNG bunkering, underwater hull cleaning, crew change and agency, superyacht management, ship and yacht registry, towage and salvage, ship repair and retrofitting, medical services, legal, financial and insurance services.

Tuesday evening will be rounded off with a stunning deck-top reception hosted by Diamond Sponsor Peninsula.

The presentations during the Flagship Conference will act as short introductions to those activities, which will all then be followed up on Wednesday 10 and Thursday 11 November, with over a dozen highly focused breakout sessions.

There will also be three off-site legal breakout sessions, presented at their local offices by law firms ISOLAS, Hassans and Ince.

Among the unique site visits are tours of HMS Dragon – the Royal Navy Type 45 destroyer which starred in the latest James Bond movie, No Time to Die. There are also visits to the Port of Gibraltar’s vessel traffic services (VTS) control centre and to bunker barges and other vessels in port.

All MWG21 delegates will be invited to a high-powered evening reception on the flight deck of HMS Dragon, hosted jointly by Ince and Petrospot, followed by another spectacular reception hosted by Platinum Sponsor Minerva.

With five fabulous evening receptions taking place during the week, Maritime Week Gibraltar will certainly succeed in its primary aim of encouraging networking, contact making and, ultimately, securing more business for everyone.
