Awyr Las Pte Ltd (ALP) is active as a Marine Consultancy specialising in Credit Management, Due Diligence type Counter-Party Risk Reporting and Project Management. The name, which is in Welsh (one of Europe’s oldest languages), suggests Blue Skies and is meant to represent a blend of traditional ethos with the positioning of products in clear blue skies, taking advantages of product differentials to secure market share. Phillips is a strong believer in identifying what makes a business different to its peers and focusing upon this to add
value. ALP is already working with a number of companies to grow business and enhance clear blue sky opportunities.
Prior to creating ALP, Phillips was Global Credit Manager for Chemoil Group, one of the largest marine fuel traders and suppliers, which he joined early in 2009 reporting to the CFO and Board. Before that he was Manager of the Europe & RoW team of Analysts at Lloyd’s Marine Intelligence Unit since 2002. He has also worked in Tanker Operations, Port Agency and other marine services sectors.
With a background in shipping stretching back to 1982, Phillips brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in credit management, credit insurance, marine fuels, wet & dry cargo trading, chartering, port agency, shipbroking, tanker operations, port operations, sales & marketing, marine surveying, maritime law and project management.
Phillips is a Chartered Shipbroker, a Chartered Member of the Institute of Transport and a Member of the Energy Institute. He holds a bachelors degree in Maritime Business with Maritime Law (First Class Honors) and a masters degree in Port Management from University of Plymouth, UK, for which he remains a Visiting Research Fellow. He is also a regular speaker on the bunker circuit specialising in Marine Credit and regularly chairs courses both in Singapore and abroad.
