An Introduction to Marine Fuel Analysis

The objective of this one-day course is to explain the origin, development and use of international marine fuel standard ISO 8217. It will examine how the standard works and what its limitations are. It will also explore the development of additional test procedures, both for screening and for the forensic examination of fuels. It will also highlight the issues between ISO 8217 and MARPOL Annex VI.

The course is aimed at buyers, superintendents and engineers with a good working knowledge (but not specialist knowledge) of marine fuels. All current test methods will be explained. The course will also examine four major quality incidents and see how they have changed the way we test fuels.
