Chief Impact Officer, Fleet Transition

Alexandros Karamitsos is Chief Impact Officer, Fleet Transition at the Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller Center for Zero Carbon Shipping, where he works with partners across the global maritime ecosystem to accelerate the transition to zero emission shipping. In this role he focuses on translating strategy into measurable industry impact through collaboration, innovation, and the scalable deployment of decarbonization solutions.
Prior to joining the Centre, Alexandros was Head of Sales for Medium- and Low-Speed OEMs in Asia at Accelleron Industries, based in Busan, South Korea. In this role, he led newbuilding turbocharger sales activities across the region and built strategic partnerships with key industry players.
Before that, he served as Head of Global Sales at ABB Turbocharging, where he led a global sales organization and strengthened market share through effective pricing strategies and strong customer relationships. During this time, he also spearheaded the launch of innovative digital services, including Turbo MarineCare and Turbo Insights, enhancing customer value while delivering on business targets.
Earlier in his career, Alexandros held senior roles at Maersk Line, where he was responsible for developing and executing strategies related to the 2020 Global Sulphur Cap.
He began his career at Wärtsilä (later WinGD), where he held several leadership positions, including General Manager, Business Development. He also served as program manager for engine development initiatives, launched digital solutions, and played a key role in positioning the company as a leader in the LNG engine market.
Across his career, Alexandros has extensive experience in managing large scale projects, driving strategic initiatives, and fostering sustainable business growth in complex, global organizations.
He holds an Executive MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, a Master’s degree in Technology and Entrepreneurship from ETH Lausanne, and a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Imperial College London.
