The Oxford Bunker Course is a world-renowned five-day intensive residential training course, designed for newcomers to the business and for those who may already have some experience.
During the week, all students meet and work with the experts and have an extraordinary opportunity to build long-term relationships with their peers from all sectors of the business.
PLEASE NOTE: All students are requested to ensure that their homeward flights and other travel plans allow them to remain in Oxford until the formal course programme ends at 1pm on Friday with the award of course certificates.

Llewellyn began his career in the oil industry in 1980, working both as a journalist and as oil broker in London and New York, with Petroleum Argus, Eperon Petroleum, Albion Oil, Petroleum Intelligence Weekly and OPEC Listener, before joining MRC Business Information Group in Oxford – which later became Lloyd’s List Intelligence after MRC’s acquisition by Informa – where he rose to Managing Director before leaving in May 2003 to establish Petrospot Ltd.
He is a Founding Member of the International Bunker Industry Association, which he helped create in 1993 and has organised conferences, seminars, training courses and multiple other events in 35 countries around the world and attended events as a journalist or conference speaker in a further dozen countries.
Llewellyn is co-creator, co-founder and co-owner of the biennial London International Shipping Week, whose first edition took place in September 2013 and has become one of the largest maritime events in the world.
Llewellyn was born in Abergavenny, Wales, in 1957 and lives in Oxfordshire.

James specialises in shipping, international trade, and insurance disputes, and is a go-to person in the market for bunker disputes and is recommended by his peers as “Mr. Bunkers”.
James qualified as a solicitor in 2008 and has a reputation as a strong technical shipping lawyer. James has an astute commercial understanding of shipping and international trade disputes particularly from his secondments to a major international insurance company and one of the world’s leading commodities traders. He acts for clients throughout the marine industry including insurers, ship owners, charterers, traders and bunker suppliers. James has a broad range of shipping and international trade expertise and is recognised as having real gravitas and credibility in this sector.
James has represented clients in numerous LMAA, LCIA, ICC and ad hoc arbitrations.
James was appointed as a member and legal advisor to the BIMCO sub-committee on the revision of the Bimco Bunker Terms.
