The ship.energy summit 2024

08 May - 09 May

Sustaining momentum: sourcing technology, finance and skills for shipping’s decarbonisation

This year’s ship.energy summit will consider how companies should formulate their decarbonisation plans and then put them into action, with a particular focus on how to evaluate which technologies and energy sources are best for them, how to access finance and support for projects, retrofits and fleet renewal, and how to ‘futureproof’ their workforce for employment in a post-fossil fuel environment.

SESSION TWO: Making a difference

This session will look at the technologies already available to improve vessel efficiency, optimise performance, and reduce GHG emissions. How can owners and operators move beyond the ‘sales pitch’ and select the technologies that will really benefit their businesses and demonstrably improve their environmental profile. This session will also look at how digitalisation can assist stakeholders in putting together and delivering on their decarbonisation strategies.

SESSION THREE: Spoilt for choice?

Low and zero-emission energy sources will be the focus of this session. How should marine fuel buyers and suppliers be preparing for a multi-fuel future and, realistically, which energies sources will be available to them in the short term and on a longer time scale. Speakers will also discuss how the supply infrastructure and safety/handling regulations (onshore and onboard) are developing in tandem with the new fuels – and what have we learnt already about the operational characteristics of the new bunker fuels.
