India-based ACME Group has signed strategic green ammonia and green methanol offtake agreements with respectively Japan’s IHI Corporation and Mitsubishi Gas Chemical. Stockholm-headquartered Echandia has been selected by Knowledge Marine & Engineering Works to supply battery systems for two fully electric tugs in India. The vessels, part of India’s Green Tug Transition Program which aims to reduce emissions from port operations and accelerate the transition from conventional diesel-powered harbour tugs to cleaner alternatives, will operate at Visakhapatnam Port Authority and V.O.C Port Authority in Tuticorin. Eric Alström has been appointed Group President & CEO of marine coatings specialist Hempel. Alström succeeds Michael Hansen, who, as previously reported by ship.energy, took over as President & CEO of shipping and logistics company DFDS on Wednesday (1 July). Alström, who boasts more than 30 years of international executive leadership experience, joins from Danfoss where he served as President of the group’s Power Solutions business segment.
