Portchain and X-Press Feeders have announced a strategic partnership that will see the shipowner deploy the maritime tech company’s Portchain Connect solution. Cruise company Carnival Corporation will install Silverstream Technologies’ air lubrication systems on its three LNG dual fuelled Ace Class vessels which will be constructed at a Fincantieri shipyard in Italy, with the first in the series, Carnival Destiny, scheduled to arrive in summer 2029. The 230,000 gross-ton vessels, slated for delivery in 2029, 2031 and 2033, will be the largest in Carnival’s fleet and also the biggest ships to be built by Fincantieri. Grimaldi Group took delivery of the 9,800-car equivalent unit (CEU) Grande Pacifico yesterday (10 August), which is the thirteenth vessel in a series of fifteen ammonia-ready vessels ordered by the company, and the first of five sister Pure Car & Truck Carriers (PCTC) ordered from China Merchants Heavy Industries Jiangsu.
