Rob Smeets has been appointed as CEO of the Antwerp-Bruges Port Authority. Smeets, who has been appointed for a six-year term, succeeds Jacques Vandermeiren, who, as previously reported by ship.energy, announced in April that he would be stepping down as CEO. A new consortium comprising a range of industry stakeholders has been set up to establish a green shipping corridor between the Port of Açu in Brazil and the Port of Antwerp-Bruges in Belgium. Facilitated by the Global Maritime Forum and RMI, the consortium includes HIF Global, Fuella, NYK Line, Höegh Autoliners, and Wallenius Wilhelmsen, as well as the Brazilian and Belgian ports.
