InterContinental Energy receives $21 million fillip for Pilbara hydrogen hub

InterContinental Energy has announced that its Australian Renewable Energy Hub (AREH) has secured a $21 million grant from the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) to accelerate the development of green hydrogen production at scale in the Pilbara. The funding will support the next phase of technical, economic and regulatory progress to ensure AREH can be online in time to support Future Made in Australia products such as green iron and ammonia. Hapag-Lloyd and Maersk moving one Gemini service back to Red Sea route

Maersk and Hapag-Lloyd have signalled their intention to route one of their shared Gemini services, the ME11, through the Red Sea and the Suez Canal from mid-February. Announcing this tentative return to the Red Sea route, the companies emphasised that the transits will be protected by naval assistance. The ME11 service connects India and the Middle East with the Mediterranean. Caribbean stakeholders draft policy recommendations for maritime decarbonisation

At a roundtable meeting in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago last week (29 – 30 January), senior representatives from Caribbean governments, maritime administrations, ports, energy authorities, development banks and financial institutions worked together on draft policy recommendations for maritime decarbonisation across the region.
