  • Mark – thanks for an interesting assessment of the UK’s contribution to decarbonisation. You mention many aspects, and I agree that we expect Government to play a greater role it is doing. However, there are many other efforts underway on the UK that deserve a mention. Many academic institutions are carrying out cutting edge research into decarbonisation. UMAS has done leading edge work on transition pathways. The universities of Southampton and Strathclyde have made major contributions, to name just two. Thought leadership from companies like Shell too is advancing our knowledge – Stasco is headquartered in London. The UK has always benefited from its ability to attract global shipping stakeholders and their activities in the UK and beyond will help drive this transition. Last but not least, Lloyd’s Register is a global company and we too are UK headquartered. Last week we launched a dedicated maritime decarbonisation hub which is focused on creating safe, sustainable pathways to a zero-carbon maritime industry.
