ORLEN has announced that the first vessels to call at the newly-opened transshipment terminal of its Gdańsk refinery have been loading marine gasoil (MGO) and delivering fatty acid methyl ester (FAME) for use in biofuel production. Soren Christian Meyer, who left maritime digitalisation firm ZeroNorth in March, has established Tidely Partners, which is described as ‘a growth partner to the maritime technology economy.’ Announcing the new venture via LinkedIn, Meyer said it would provide services to assist in the scaling up of maritime technology businesses. Its areas of work will include commercial due diligence for private equity and growth funds, bringing to market and scaling for technology companies, and strategy, M&A and capital for company boards and owners. Polish firms Orlen, Enea, Unimot, and PGE have agreed on a slot sharing mechanism after reserving capacity at a proposed second floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU 2) Terminal in the Gulf of Gdańsk which will be constructed by GAZ-SYSTEM. As reported by ship.energy, in June GAZ-SYSTEM announced its intention to press ahead with the FSRU project. This marks another milestone in the development of LNG infrastructure in Poland, and it follows the construction of the LNG Terminal in Świnoujście and the FSRU 1 Terminal in Gdańsk.
