The Maritime Energy & Sustainable Development Centre of Excellence (MESD) says the results of a new study that it has undertaken with industry stakeholders has demonstrated ‘the qualified readiness of existing large harbour craft in Singapore for B100 adoption, provided that appropriate fuel-handling, storage and additive practices are implemented’. Global Marine Group, which provides solutions to the submarine cable industry, has signed a contract with Colombo Dockyard in Sri Lanka for the construction of a cable maintenance vessel which will feature hybrid power generation and optimised fuel consumption. The cable ship will also be equipped with Azimuth thruster technology for propulsion efficiency and manoeuvrability, shore power connectivity and ‘advanced emissions reduction systems’ which support compliance with CLEANSHIP requirements.
