Following the unveiling of the European Commission’s (EC) Sustainable Transport Investment Plan (STIP), Danish Shipping has called for ‘concrete action — and, not least, sufficient funding’ for the production of green fuels. Energy and commodity price reporting agency Argus has launched the first price assessments for French renewable gas guarantees of origin (RGGOs). French RGGOs provide information on the source and timing of biomethane injected into the domestic gas grid. The certificates can be combined with a proof of sustainability and used by a range of consumers to document the use of biomethane. Depending on specifications, they can also be used to offset payments in the EU emissions trading system (ETS). The ARA-based bunker supplier NORTHSTAR has informed ship.energy that it is expanding its geographical coverage to include ‘the English Channel, OPL [Outside Port Limits], the UK East Coast, Germany, and France’. In a statement sent to ship.energy today (3 November), the company said that the expanded operations will begin from the second half of this month.
