Under the scope of a new Memorandum of Understanding, up to 12,000 tonnes of green hydrogen per year could be locally produced by Lhyfe to supply Perpetual Next’s planned DeltaNor biomethanol facility in Delfzijl in the Netherlands. French company Lhyfe already has four installed production sites in Europe, and this should rise to six by the end of the year. The Netherlands is seen as one of Europe’s most mature markets for green hydrogen, and Lhyfe is actively developing projects there, including the 120 MW project in Delfzijl. Perpetual Next is developing DeltaNor as a 220,000 tonne-per-year biomethanol production facility […]

In an open letter to the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, 170 companies working across the European energy sector have argued that any removal of mandates and targets for the use of renewable fuels of non-biological origins (RFNBO) as set out in the Renewable Energy Directive (RED) III ‘would waste six years of work and send shockwaves through the market, punishing first movers and creating a lack of confidence in EU climate and energy policies.’ In the revised RED III, in relation to hydrogen, demand is to be lifted by the directive through a binding combined […]

Power to Hydrogen (P2H2) yesterday (24 September) began commercial green hydrogen production in the NextGen District of the Port of Antwerp-Bruges in Belgium. In a statement posted on its website, the Port of Antwerp-Bruges said that the 500 kW system, built from two 250 kW stacks, is the first commercial deployment of 250 kW anion exchange membrane (AEM) electrolyser stacks. The system will initially produce up to 70 tonnes of green hydrogen per year for regional gas supplier Holthausen and other customers in the area. The Port Authority added that the commissioning comes as P2H2 prepares data from the Antwerp […]
