  • With the huge required infrastructure capital outlay, increased cost per equivalent unit of energy and fact that ammonia and LNG can’t be used on the existing fleet vessels, I’m surprised your article didn’t dwell more on some of rhe shorter term solutions. Maersk are partnering with Vertoro for their lignin based ‘goldilocks’ biofuel, and MSC are due to trial with Quadrise Fuels on their glycerine based bioMSAR emulsion fuel.
Using existing infrastructure and providing an immediate circs 30% C02 reduction these transition fuels can be interchanged and further developed towards eventually net zero fuels, and are immediately available.
