Tsuneishi Group (Zhoushan) Shipbuilding Inc, the Chinese subsidiary of Tsuneishi Shipbuilding, has announced the delivery of its fourth methanol dual-fuelled container carrier. According to a statement issued this week (25 August) by the Zhoushan City, China-based company, the delivery of the 5,900 TEU container carrier ‘represents the company’s continued efforts to strengthen its capabilities in the field of alternative-fuelled shipbuilding’. Maersk’s 17,480 TEU (twenty-foot equivalent unit) methanol dual fuel container vessel Bangkok Maersk has transited the Suez Canal for the first time, according to the Suez Canal Authority. In a statement posted on LinkedIn this week, the authority said the vessel made its first voyage through the Suez Canal as part of a northern convoy during a journey from Italy to Singapore. Classification society ABS has reported that it joined Hanwha Shipping in the naming ceremony of the Elandra K2, a 320,000 DWT very large crude carrier (VLCC) built to ABS Class at Hanwha Ocean’s Okpo shipyard in South Korea. In a statement sent to ship.energy today (26 August), ABS said the Elandra K2 is the first of three VLCCs under construction for Hanwha Shipping.
