Cruise shipping giant Carnival Corporation has reported ‘best ever revenues’ and an ‘all-time high’ net income of $1.9 billion for the third quarter (Q3) of 2026 – despite an increase in fuel costs. Netherlands-based Titan Clean Fuels has announced that its LNG bunkering and multi-gas carrier Titan Unikum has completed its 15-year Special Survey and Dry Dock at Cosco Shipyard in Guangzhou, China. ‘The vessel comes out of the yard in great shape, ready to keep trading for the next five years and beyond,’ the company said in a social media post today (30 September). The U.S. Department of Energy’s National Laboratory of the Rockies (NLR) has published a new report assessing ethanol as a marine fuel. It finds that although it is technically feasible to use ethanol as a bunker fuel, its widespread adoption depends on regulatory progress, fuel standards, bunkering infrastructure and recognised life cycle carbon accounting. According to the report’s conclusions, a ‘central finding’ of the research is that ethanol shares many important properties with methanol, while offering several advantages over it, including higher energy content, lower human toxicity and potentially lower life cycle greenhouse gas emissions when produced from bio-based feedstocks.
