Hapag-Lloyd issued a brief statement yesterday (15 February) in which it confirmed that negotiations to acquire the Israeli container line ZIM have reached an advanced stage but that no binding agreements have been entered into. The statement noted that the required approvals of the transaction by the Management Board and the Supervisory Board of Hapag-Lloyd, as well as by the corporate bodies of the contractual counterparties, have not yet been granted. Global investment group Eurazeo has announced the closing of its Eurazeo Sustainable Maritime Infrastructure II (ESMI II) fund at €175 million which will be used to support the decarbonisation of the European maritime sector. The fund was launched last December and at its first closing it has exceeded its initial target of €125 million. Its final target is set at €400 million. ESMI II provides financing to European small and mid-sized shipowners and maritime stakeholders. European Maritime Finance (EMF) has announced the appointment of Peter Kubicki to its Board of Directors.
