With more than 20 years of experience in maritime and classification services, Grotsky previously led Maritime Strategy and Innovation at Saudi Aramco. Canada-based StormFisher Hydrogen anticipates that when its new plant in Varennes, Quebec starts operations in 2028 it will become ‘North America’s first commercial-scale e-methanol facility’. In a notice posted on LinkedIn yesterday (14 May), StormFisher Hydrogen said that, when fully up and running, the plant will be capable of producing more than 70,000 tonnes a year of a Renewable Fuel of Non-Biological Origin (RFNBO) e-methanol, which will be suitable for ‘sectors with limited electrification pathways’, including shipping, aviation and industrial chemical production.
