Solomon Islands launches national plan for green shipping and ports

The Solomon Islands has published its National Action Plan (NAP) to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from its maritime sector, in line with the country’s ambition to achieve zero-emissions from domestic shipping by 2050. The plan outlines measures to develop fiscal and regulatory incentives to support investment in energy-efficiency and low-emissions technologies in the domestic maritime sector, including small vessels and domestic ships. It also lays out actions to implement a vessel retrofit and replacement programme to enhance operational and technical ship efficiency, and support the introduction of zero-emission and hybrid vessels for domestic shipping. HD Hyundai looking to build a new shipyard in India

South Korean shipbuilding giant HD Hyundai has signed an agreement with the Tamil Nadu state government to establish a new shipyard in Southern India. Tamil Nadu is one of five states shortlisted by the Indian government as candidate sites for the construction of a new shipyard as part of its ambition to become one of the world’s top five shipbuilding and shipping nations. Asia Pacific becoming a ‘testbed’ for e-fuel development, Accelleron report suggests
