ATH Trading has informed ship.energy that its 7,000 cubic metre (cbm) capacity bunker tanker ATH Lemba is now back on station supplying marine fuel along the Angolan coast. The European Commission (EC) has approved a €25 million Spanish State aid scheme to support fishing companies facing increased fuel prices due to the Middle East crisis. In a statement issued today (4 June), the EC said that the aid will take the form of direct grants. Companies can receive €0.20 for each litre of diesel purchased from 22 March 2026 until 30 June 2026, up to a maximum of €200,000 per vessel and €400,000 per shipowner. Canada’s BC Ferries plans to implement a temporary 5% fuel surcharge on 16 June which will apply across all its routes. In a statement issued yesterday (2 June), the British Columbia-based ferry operator said that the surcharge was being introduced ‘in response to sustained increases in global fuel prices and ongoing volatility in energy markets driven by geopolitical conflict overseas’.
