Simon Bergulf, who last week announced that he would be stepping down from his role as Group Representative for Europe at Maersk, is joining the World Shipping Council (WSC) as its next Vice-President, Environment and Climate. Bergulf will succeed Bryan Wood-Thomas, who will retire this year after leading WSC’s environment and climate work since 2008. The WSC said that Bergulf will begin his new role at the beginning of April, and he will also lead and manage the Council’s Brussels office. Oslo-listed Bruton has announced it has received a financing proposal for 90% of the construction costs of two dual fuel LNG very large crude carriers (VLCCs) and has also agreed a Letter of Intent to charter out the vessels to an unnamed global trading house. Established in 2023, Bruton is sponsored by Magni Partners, the investment office of Norwegian businessman Tor Olav Troim, whose roles include Chairman of the Board at Golar LNG. The Port of Rotterdam Authority has named eight projects that will collectively achieve a reduction of 575,000 tonnes of CO2e in the port area for which the authority will pay €3.5 million, which is an average of €6 per tonnes of CO2, over a period of four years.
