The European Commission’s (EC) long-anticipated review of the EU Emissions Trading System (ETS) landed today (17 July) with an emphasis on more and ringfenced investment for industries’ decarbonisation, including around €15 billion a year for the maritime sector, which, the EC claims, would be an eight-fold uplift on the current level. The SBM Offshore and Technip Energies Joint Venture (STS JV) and TotalEnergies EP Suriname have agreed to work with French firm Beyond the Sea to evaluate wind-assisted kite traction towing for Suriname’s GranMorgu Floating Production, Storage, and Offloading (FPSO) vessel project.
