Wärtsilä Gas Solutions will be providing a PuregasCA upgradging plant for Bigandan’s biogas facility in Horsens, Denmark. In a statement issued today (20 October), Wärtsilä said that the new plant will have the capacity to upgrade 6000 Nm3 per hour of raw biogas and ‘represents a significant step in scaling up biogas production and utilisation in Denmark’. The Wärtsilä PuregasCA plant, which uses amine scrubber technology, is expected to be in full operation by the third quarter (Q3) of 2026. South Korea’s HMM has announced it has finalised an order for a dozen 13,000 TEU (twenty-foot equivalent unit) LNG-fuelled containerships. In a statement issued yesterday, HMM said the vessels are part of a broader order, worth KRW 4 trillion ($2.8 billion), that also includes two very large crude carriers (VLCCs). No information relating to the VLCCs’ propulsion was provided. The LNG-fuelled boxships will be built by HD Hyundai Heavy and Hanhwa Ocean. Marine fuel supplier Peninsula is funding a maritime simulation suite at the University of Gibraltar which will provide simulation training required by the UK’s Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA). The initiative builds on a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between Peninsula and the University of Gibraltar earlier this year.
